Jenny attended the “AI Reaction Outcome & Synthetic Route Prediction 2020” (AI REACT) Conference in Gloucestershire, UK. Jenny had a great time there and learned a lot about the current state-of-the-art of AI in chemistry through great talks, posters and discussions. [Read more]

Professor Ryohei Ishige of the Tokyo Institute of Technology visited our Lab this week and gave a very interesting talk entitled “Control of Molecular Orientation for Rigid Polyimides Based on Lyotropic Liquid Crystalline Precursors” at the Institute of Materials Chemistry seminar. Professor Shinji Ando of the Tokyo Institute of Technology visited us this week at TU Wien as external examiner for Michael’s PhD defense. Moreover, Professor Ando gave a wonderful lecture entitled “Control and Enhancement of Anisotropic Thermal Diffusivity of Boron Nitride and Zinc Oxide Filled Polyimide Films” at the Institute of Materials Chemistry seminar. Miriam gave an invited talk entitled “Hydrothermal Synthesis of Heterocycle-based High-Performance Materials” at the 200 Years Symposium on Heterocyclic Chemistry hosted by the TU Wien. We thank the organizers of this symposium for a great conference. [Read more]

Miriam kicked off the 1^st monthly meeting of the Scientific Graphic Design Club with a workshop on the topics of brainstorming and formstorming. All participants were very eager to challenge their own creativity on illustration design. We had a great time and are already looking forward to the next meeting! [Read more]

Marianne was awarded with the TU Wien research grant “Kurzfristige Wissenschaftliche Arbeiten”(Short-term scientific projects) for a research stay in the lab of Prof. David Mecerreyes (Innovative Polymers Group) at the Institute for Polymer Materials of the University of the Basque Country and the Basque Center for Macromolecular Design and Engineering (POLYMAT). Hipassia participated in the `Speed dating with Scientists’ event within the FIT Days in Vienna. This program is sponsored by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) and allows female high school students to chat with female scientists and engineers about their careers. Hipassia was bringing wonderful self-made book signs featuring famous female scientists as gifts to the students. [Read more]
