Jessica spent two weeks in the research group of Dr. Guillermo González-Rubio at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, in Madrid, Spain. After joining our group at the University of Konstanz in 2021, Elana has been an essential part of the UnterlassLAB, investigating co-crystals for sustainable materials and managing PXRD and SAXS equipment. Miriam gave her first lecture at the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg (JMU) for the Bachelor program Functional Materials. As of mid-April, all scientific equipment and samples of the UnterlassLAB have been successfully transferred from the University of Konstanz to the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg. At the 4th GDCh Specialist Group Conference on Sustainable Chemistry, held at Merck in Darmstadt, Germany, Lena gave a talk entitled “Development of One-Pot Multi-Step Hydrothermal Syntheses”.  She presented a green approach for the synthesis of polyfunctionalized heteroaromatic compounds in high-temperature water with emphasis on its sustainable aspects. Frank presented his work entitled “Synthesis of Layered Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Vanadium Oxides for Electrochemical Applications” at the 4th Conference of the GDCh Division of Chemistry and Energy in Duisburg, Germany. In his poster, he presented the synthesis of hybrid materials consisting of organic pigments and bilayered vanadium oxides using high-temperature water, highlighting their potential use as electrode materials for post-lithium-ion batteries. As part of the EU Life Mentorship Program for Female Scientists, Danica gave a presentation at the Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie in Leuven, Belgium. Her talk, titled “In vitro characterization of the hydrothermally synthesized fluorescent dyes”, provided insights to an audience of microscopy researchers and opened discussions on future exploration on selective cell staining.
