New paper on selective chemical recycling published!

We are proud to share that “Selective chemical recycling of polyhydroxybutyrate into high-value hydroxy acid using the taurine organocatalyst” has been published in Chemical Science, as part of the themed collection “15th anniversary: Chemical Science community collection“. This publication describes an innovative method for selectively recycling polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB), a biodegradable bioplastic, using naturally occurring taurine as an organocatalyst. In addition, enantiomerically pure 3-hydroxybutyric acid (HBA) with 98% yield is attained, suppressing unwanted by-products like crotonic acid. This work is a joint endeavour with the research group of Prof. Dr. Haritz Sardon of POLYMAT. Congratulations to all authors for the accomplishment.
